Walk-Behind Trenchers Improve Job-Site Productivity

By: Randy Rupp, Ditch Witch Vice President of Product Strategy

Recent advancements in walk-behind trencher technology, specifically in performance and ease of maintenance, are making them an increasingly attractive option by global operators for use on smaller jobsites. New developments and innovations helping to boost productivity, include:

  • Digging systems enhancements – Operators demand trenchers with durable digging chains and teeth as new installations of underground utilities increase the need for efficient, dependable digging systems. For example, our new OptiCut digging system was designed specifically for our newest line of walk-behind trenchers, the C- and CX-Series. The system features maintenance-free teeth and 19,000 pounds of tensile strength, allowing for a smoother cut and an oversized roller design that reduces friction and boosts available horsepower. Taking advantage of new digging systems will not only improve performance, but eliminate upkeep costs that have defined previous systems.
  • Track improvements – New track developments give operators more balance and ground traction, allowing them to conquer a variety of terrains with just one piece of equipment. The patent-pending design on our CX-Series models incorporate a longer track on the right side and a shorter track on the left, providing greater maneuverability in tight spaces. It also centers the digging attachment for improved productivity. New tracks allow for better floatation and traction, improving overall wear life and increasing uptime.
  • Hassle-free maintenance designs – Armed with new, walk-behind trencher technology, keeping machines ready for the job is easier than ever before. New updates include the elimination of grease zerks, as well as high-quality, sealed bearings to keep the machines running day after day. New designs also allow quick access to machine’s components for easier routine maintenance.

Operators demand reliable equipment to improve job-site productivity and ROI. By investing in new innovations in trencher technology, such as the C- and CX-Series trenchers, these operators can begin a job knowing they have durable equipment to effectively get it done as efficiently as possible.
