G&W Construction Buys First Ditch Witch AT120 in North America

As published in CEG.

G&W Construction Company Inc., with the help of Ditch Witch Mid-States, recently made the historic purchase of the new Ditch Witch AT120 All Terrain Directional Drill, the first to be sold in North America. This acquisition reflects G&W’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements but also solidifies its position as a reliable and efficient player in the underground construction sector.

G&W Construction Company Inc., known for its high-quality work and dedication to customer satisfaction, decided to invest in the latest equipment from its Ditch Witch Mid-States dealership. Incorporating advanced technology into its operations will enhance overall efficiency and productivity. Automated machinery improves accuracy and speed, enabling the company to complete projects faster without compromising quality. The company specializes in “rock drilling” and feels this will allow it to utilize the AT Technology in projects where it could not previously.

“The new AT120 drill will help G&W Construction to better serve our existing customers and seek out new customers,” said Jenny Magner of G&W Construction Company Inc.

The industry’s largest and most powerful All Terrain directional drill, the AT120 is designed for maximum uptime. It features a displacement fluid pump for added fluid flow; an integrated wireline platform that allows greater access when connecting wire; and open top, angled front wrenches that bring greater visibility of machine functions during operation. With a noise level of only 80 DbA, clearer communication on the jobsite improves safety and productivity.
“It’s a very quiet machine and will allow us to work in urban job sites where we would have been restricted in the past,” said Chase Alderman of G&W Construction Company Inc.

The AT120’s All Terrain technology enables rock drilling at a low fluid level, decreasing jobsite waste, minimizing cleanup and reducing environmental impact, according to Ditch Witch. The machine is powered by a 280 hp Stage V Cummins engine; has 120,000 lbs. of thrust/pullback; 15,500 ft. lbs. of rotational torque; and an additional 3,000 ft. lbs. of inner rotational torque.

“What sets G&W Construction Company apart is their focus on innovation and it makes them more productive. We’re so fortunate to partner with them,” said Sam Swartz, Ditch Witch Mid-States.

The AT120 will contribute to G&W Construction Company Inc.’s ability to provide larger projects and grow its service area. Through the purchase of the AT120, the company is fostering a culture of innovative solutions in the industry.

The acquisition of the AT120 allows G&W Construction Company Inc. to remain competitive in an evolving market. By providing more efficient and cost-effective solutions to its clients, the company is better positioned to secure projects and maintain its reputation as a trusted construction partner, it said.
